Hey there Jackals fans! Last Sunday the team had a successful open tryout in an attempt to welcome new players to join. Several potential players came out to show their skills on the court.
One tryout player in particular, Dashawn Blocker arrived ready to play with a humble attitude.
“The learning part from the people that’s been here and from the people that is trying out as well I can learn a bunch of things, even if I don’t make it today it going to help me be a better tomorrow,” said Blocker
No final decisions were made after each player had tried out, the coach thanked all the players for coming out and giving 110% in their effort to join the Jackals family. Several vet players came out to assist with the tryout, giving the possible new players a challenge. However, this should come as no surprise because the Jackals players are always willing to lend a helping hand and support a person in need. Most recently the team has developed a new mentoring program for our younger Jackals fans in the community, featuring some for the veteran players.
Vet player John Lee said he couldn’t be more thrilled.
“Yeah, I’m very excited. I think this is a great opportunity for us to give back as well as for the younger guys we will be mentoring for them to learn a lot from us,” Lee furthered. “Just being a positive male role model because you don’t know each kids’ situation. Even if they already have one (positive male figure) then the more the better and if they don’t have one that’s great that we will be able to provide that for them.”
The Jackals have a bright season ahead of them not only on the court but in the community. Make sure you stay tuned in, Jackals fans, and be on the lookout for a future Jackals game near you.
