SYRACUSE — The Jamestown Jackals’ stay in The Basketball League playoffs came to an end Saturday.

And, for the second straight game, it was their shooting woes that did them in.

Jamestown shot just 36 percent from the field on its way to a 108-99 loss to Syracuse in the third-and-deciding game of the Eastern Conference finals at Bishop Grimes Junior-Senior High School.

The decisive quarter was the second when the Stallions outscored the Jackals, 24-13, to build a 50-37 lead at halftime. After intermission, the game was played on even terms, but the damage had been done.

Six players scored in double figures for Syracuse, led by Jordan Robertson’s 24 points. Michael Henry added 19, Trahson Burrell (15 rebounds) and Jacquil Taylor both had 18, and Jimmy Gray III chipped in 13. As a team, the Stallions shot 49 percent from the floor.

Christian Nobles paced Jamestown, which led 14-4 to start the game, with 21 points and 12 rebounds, Dane Miller had 19 points, Jon Lee 18 and Bernard Edwards 14.

While the Jackals’ season comes to an end, the Stallions advance to the regionals, which will begin this week.
